Technical Visit to Obruk Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) and Merzifon Elektromotor
On Friday, June 12, 2026, a technical visit was organized for the students of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, led by our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilge Han TOZLU, to the Obruk Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) and the Merzifon Elektromotor company.
In the first part of the technical visit, our students had the opportunity to visit the Obruk HEPP and examine the production process of electrical energy from hydroelectric sources on-site. Detailed technical information regarding the turbines, generators, control and protection systems, as well as energy production and transmission processes used in the plant, were provided by the authorities. This allowed our students to observe the knowledge they acquired in theoretical courses within the environment of a real-world production facility.
In the second part of the technical visit, our students visited the Merzifon Elektromotor company to examine the production processes of shaded-pole asynchronous motors on-site. Detailed information concerning the design, production, assembly, and quality control stages of the motors was shared by the Factory Operations Manager, İsmail Kaya, and the production line was introduced through practical demonstrations.
Throughout the visit, our students also had the chance to engage with industry representatives, gaining insights into career opportunities, recruitment processes, working conditions, and industry expectations following graduation, thereby acquiring valuable experiences that will contribute to their professional development.
Our department aims to continue such technical visit activities, which contribute to the consolidation of our students' theoretical knowledge through practical application and provide them with the opportunity to interact directly with the industry, in the coming semesters.
